MATTE PILATES

THE STANDARD

A Higher Standard of Pilates Training

An 8-week classical mat teacher training + career development certification experience.

A REAL PROGRAM.

An eight-week Classical Mat teacher training & career development program for instructors committed to building serious, respected careers in Pilates.

The Standard goes beyond the traditional two-weekend certification. It is designed to close the gap between learning the repertoire and being truly prepared to teach it.

This is for the instructor who wants to lead group classes with confidence, work one-on-one with private clients, prepare for competitive studio auditions, and develop the presence, precision, and professionalism required to work with discerning and high-profile clientele.

Through four phases of immersive education, guided practice, professional assessment, career development, and continued mentorship, you will develop more than technical knowledge. You will learn how to command a room, understand the body in front of you, communicate the method clearly, and build a notable career grounded in the integrity of Classical Pilates.

You will not just leave with a certificate and lingering questions about whether you are ready. You will leave with a certificate, thoroughly educated, deliberately practiced, professionally assessed, and confident in your ability to teach.

60+ HOURS

Your training includes 34 required Classical Mat certification hours, plus guided practice, observation, practice teaching, professional assessment, career preparation, and continued alumni development.

This is not certification for certification’s sake.

This is preparation for a career.

Meet Your Instructor

Teneice Bowie is a fourth-generation classical Pilates instructor, educator, and founder of Matte Pilates and LISTED, her large-format classical mat Pilates concept.

Her approach is in the classical method, but her work has never been about simply preserving choreography. Teneice is known for teaching instructors how to understand the method deeply enough to teach it with authority, precision, personality, and a point of view of their own.

Teneice’s perspective on Pilates has been featured in New York Magazine’s The Cut, where she contributed to the conversation around what defines “real Pilates,” and in Pilates Journal, including a feature connected to her work with Cirque du Soleil.

Before building her career in Pilates, Teneice served in the U.S. Air Force, worked within the U.S. Intelligence Community, and later held leadership roles in corporate environments including Amazon Web Services.
